AFTER SCHOOL & WEEKEND PROGRAMS

ZUMIX: WORLD RHYTHMS DRUMMING AND PERCUSSION

These classes offer a hands-on approach to learning about Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latin and other rhythmic forms from around the world. The students will use authentic instruments to create percussion compositions rooted in solid music theory and engaging rhythms. Each class will begin with fun icebreakers, music games and warm-ups geared toward making the experience of learning about drums and percussion accessible, enjoyable and memorable. It also cannot go without saying that within these classes students also develop the personal and social skills of respect, teamwork and self-confidence as part of the lifelong creative learning process.

Dates: Tuesdays, 5/9, 5/16, 5/30, 6/6

Time: 6:00PM - 7:30PM

Place: Community Center Auditorium (Garfield School)

Cost: $20 pre person - pre-registration (12 person max)

Martial Arts

Through the style of Gotan Rye, together we will build community, strength, resilience, knowledge and confidence. With our willingness to learn we will train our mind and body, as a team, to learn the ways of martial arts.

Dates: Thursdays, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11

Time:  Ages: 4 to 7: 5:00PM - 6:00PM

            Ages 8 & up: 6:00PM - 7:00PM

ART-A-PALOOZA WITH MISS DIANE

Come join Miss Diane to create a work of art and explore a variety of techniques using mixed media! Students will create a new masterpiece each week.

Dates: Wednesdays, 4/5, 4/12, 4/26, 5/3

Time: 6:30PM - 7:30PM

Location: Parks and Recreation Center

Cost: $40 per person - pre-registration required - (15 person max)

BEAUTIFUL BALLET

Join Madison as she teaches ballerina to kids! She will incorporate dancing games which teaches them the fundamentals and techniques of ballet.

Dates: Wednesdays, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24, 5/31

FIBER ART

Using natural and synthetic fibers, we will create art and/or decor. Fiber Arts can include sewing, embroidery, painting t-shirts, paper art, etc. This class requires some fine motor skills.

Time: 6:00PM - 7:00PM

Cost: $20 for all four classes (15 person max)

FINDING YOUR OWN LOOK WITH NIKKI

Find your perfect look! In this class you will learn the basics of make up application, step-by-step. Participants will be shown techniques and given unique tips to create a flawless look. The goal will to be to create a look that is subtle and natural while enhancing each individual's natural beauty.

Dates: Tuesdays, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16

Time: 5:30PM - 6:30PM

Cost: $20 per sessions (15 person max)

Ages: 13 - 17 | Instructor: Nikki O'Grady

CROCHET BASICS

Get hooked on crochet with Linda Sessa. In this class we will learn the basic stitches. We will then learn how to make a scarf or pot holder. Depending on how we are progressing in the classes, we may learn to read a pattern
